Today, Pilot and Cabin Crew representatives have signed with Ryanair an agreement on one specific and important item:
Ryanair’s commitment to apply, from 31 January 2019, Belgian labour legislation to all Pilots and Cabin Crews, working in Belgium and directly employed by the airline.
This agreement, resulting from intense negotiations over recent months, ensures that Pilots and Cabin Crew having their ‘home base’ in Belgium will benefit from the rights and protections of the Belgian labour law, instead of being subject to Irish rules, and fall within the jurisdiction of Belgian Courts for any future work- related disputes between Ryanair and its employees.
The agreement also sets the framework to open now negotiations for a comprehensive Collective Labour Agreement on the detailed terms and conditions for Ryanair Pilots and Cabin Crews.
All parties agreed to plan 4 meetings before 31 December 2018 to initiate discussions on Pilots’ and Cabin Crews’ main requests such as: seniority list, salary scale, direct employment contracts for all crews currently on broker agency contracts, base transfers, working time and rest periods, pension plan, Loss of Licence insurance, etc.
Negotiations on detailed terms and working conditions can now be started to reach a Collective Labour Agreement that will be governed by Belgian labour law and benefit both company and its employees.
