Throughout Europe, Ryanair staff is organizing in order to put forth their legitimate demands, i.e. the establishment of a true social dialogue and the application of local labor legislations. This discontent led to a series of large scale protest actions and strikes in several European countries (Ireland, Portugal, Italy, Spain and Belgium).
In Dublin, in retaliation to the three strike days organized in July, Ryanair announced on 25 July that they would delocalize to Poland 100 pilots and 200 cabin crewmembers, threatening them from being dismissed in case they refuse. In response, Irish pilots announced a fourth day of strike, on 3 August 2018.
In Belgium, last 18 July, Ryanair’s management broke the promises that were made several months ago and flatly refused the application of Belgian labor law. The refusal to apply local labor laws was one of the main reasons that led cabin crewmembers in Portugal, Spain, Italy and Belgium to go on strike on 25 and 26 July. Since then, Ryanair has been running a campaign of intimidation targeted at some of the crewmembers who participated in these actions.
These practices are unacceptable and go against the right to strike, which is a fundamental right guaranteed by all international conventions.
Ryanair’s model must change. Since last fall and the cancelation of a great number of flights because of a pilot shortage until this summer’s strikes, the model Mr. O’Leary has been so proud of has clearly demonstrated its limits.
For all these reasons, BeCA and CNE/LBC-NVK call all Ryanair pilots based in Belgium to support their Irish colleagues and to join the strike action that will take place on 10 August to demand:

The cancelation of notices of delocalizing/dismissal sent to the flying crew based in Dublin

The withdrawal of threats against crewmembers

The application of national legislations

The establishment of a true dialogue social
We also call national and European authorities to finally take their responsibilities and condemn Ryanair’s practices.

En réponse aux menaces, les pilotes Ryanair appellent à l’unité : grève le 10 août 2018
À travers l’Europe, le personnel de Ryanair s’organise pour faire valoir ses revendications légitimes, à savoir l’instauration d’un vrai dialogue social et l’application des législations nationales. Ce mécontentement a donné lieu à une série d’actions de protestation et de grèves de grande ampleur dans différents pays européens (Irlande, Portugal, Italie, Espagne et Belgique).
À Dublin, en représailles des trois journées de grève organisées en juillet, Ryanair a annoncé le 25 juillet la délocalisation en Pologne de 100 pilotes et 200 membres d’équipage, les menaçant de licenciement en cas de refus. En réponse, les pilotes irlandais ont annoncé une quatrième journée de grève, le 3 août prochain.
En Belgique, le 18 juillet dernier, les hauts responsables de Ryanair ont brisé les promesses faites depuis plusieurs mois et ont refusé catégoriquement l’application de la loi du travail belge. Le refus d’appliquer les législations du travail nationales est une des raisons principales qui ont poussé les personnels de cabine au Portugal, en Espagne, en Italie et en Belgique à faire grève les 25 et 26 juillet. Depuis lors, Ryanair mène une campagne d’intimidation auprès de certains membres d’équipage qui ont participé à ces actions.
Ces pratiques sont inacceptables et vont à l’encontre du droit de grève, droit fondamental qui est garanti par toutes les conventions internationales.
Le modèle Ryanair doit changer. Depuis l’automne dernier et l’annulation massive de vols en raison d’une pénurie de pilotes jusqu’aux grèves de cet été, ce modèle dont M. O’Leary est si fier a clairement montré ses limites.
Pour toutes ces raisons, la BeCA / CNE/LBC-NVK appellent tous les pilotes Ryanair basés en Belgique à soutenir leurs collègues irlandais et à se joindre à l’action de grève qui aura lieu le 10 août prochain afin d’exiger :

L’annulation des préavis de délocalisation/licenciement envoyés au personnel navigant basé à Dublin

Le retrait des menaces à l’encontre du personnel de cabine

L’application des législations nationales

L’instauration d’un vrai dialogue social
Nous exhortons par ailleurs les autorités nationales et européennes à prendre enfin leurs responsabilités et à condamner les pratiques de Ryanair.

In antwoord op de dreigementen die werden geuit, roepen de piloten van Ryanair op tot eenheid met een staking op 10 augustus 2018
In heel Europa organiseert het Ryanair-personeel zich om zijn legitieme eisen kenbaar te maken, nl. invoering van een echte sociale dialoog en toepassing van de respectieve nationale wetgeving. Die ontevredenheid heeft geleid tot een aantal grootschalige protest- en stakingsacties in verschillende Europese landen (Ierland, Portugal, Italië, Spanje en België).
Als vergelding voor de drie stakingsdagen in juli heeft Ryanair op 25 juli in Dublin aangekondigd dat 100 piloten en 200 bemanningsleden zullen worden gedelokaliseerd naar Polen, onder dreiging van ontslag bij weigering. Als reactie daarop hebben de Ierse piloten een vierde stakingsdag aangekondigd op 3 augustus e.k.
Wat België betreft, hebben de hoge verantwoordelijken van Ryanair op 18 juli jl. de toezeggingen die verschillende maanden eerder waren gedaan terzijde geschoven en hebben ze stellig geweigerd om de Belgische arbeidswetgeving toe te passen. De weigering om de respectieve nationale arbeidswetgeving toe te passen is een van de voornaamste redenen die het cabinepersoneel in Portugal, Spanje, Italië en België ertoe hebben aangezet om op 25 en 26 juli te staken. Sindsdien voert Ryanair een intimidatiecampagne t.a.v. sommige bemanningsleden die aan die acties hebben deelgenomen.
Die praktijken zijn onaanvaardbaar en druisen in tegen het stakingsrecht, d.i. een grondrecht dat door alle internationale verdragen wordt gegarandeerd.
Het Ryanair-model moet veranderen. Sinds vorig najaar, met de massale schrapping van vluchten wegens een tekort aan piloten, tot de stakingen van deze zomer heeft het model waarop Michael O’Leary zo trots is duidelijk zijn grenzen laten zien.
Om al die redenen roepen de BeCA en CNE/LBC-NVK alle piloten van Ryanair met thuisbasis in België op om hun Ierse collega’s te steunen en zich aan te sluiten bij de stakingsactie die op 10 augustus wordt georganiseerd met de volgende eisen:
- nietigverklaring van de kennisgeving van delokalisatie / ontslagaanzegging die naar het boordpersoneel met basis in Dublin werden gestuurd
- intrekking van de dreigementen t.a.v. het cabinepersoneel
- toepassing van de respectieve nationale wetgeving
- invoering van een echte sociale dialoog
Bovendien sporen wij de nationale en Europese autoriteiten aan om eindelijk hun verantwoordelijkheden op te nemen en de praktijken van Ryanair te veroordelen.
